Graphic arts is a branch of technique combining different printing types – printing of texts and illustrations – for multiplication of books, newspapers, magazines, blanks, posters, labels and other printed production in large quantity.
Graphic arts processes in printing production include prepress, printing and post press. The main stages of graphic arts process are creating a layout, designing, making of printing plates, printing, cutting, assembling, scoring, creasing, folding, perforation, binding etc.
It is all the necessary stages of printing technologies, preparing of printing products for printing process. That means processing text and images, imposition of columns, assembling and imposition on printing sheet, colour separation. Preparing of a printing plate.
Transferring printing ink from a printing plate to printing materials sometimes by using intermediate carrier.
